6/7/13 – Daddy holding Livvy

Olivia needed another blood transfusion today.  They began the second round of medication for the murmur (ductus) as well.  We made it to the hospital pretty late last night and they delayed the touch time because they were prepping her for the medication.  So we were able to participate; and Junior was able to hold her for the first time.  When we first arrived we noticed Nurse L and another Nurse over Olivia with the incubator open. Nurse L explained that Olivia’s right hand was swollen so the PIK specialist was talking a look at her line to make sure it wasn’t infiltrated.  Nurse L believes it was swollen because Olivia stuck her hand under the wrap around her and it was too heavy for her.  The PIK specialist said everything looks good with the PIK so we just put a warm compress and kept her hand elevated.  The swelling went down by the time we were heading home.  Livvy also gained another 2 ounces! She now weighs 1 lb and 8 oz.  She is looking good as well.
