Olivia had her follow up eye exam today. To be quite honest, I was terrified of the
outcome. Junior and I got there early so
we can participate in touch time before Dr. G completed his exam. We told the nurse we wanted to talk to the
doctor after the exam but did not want to see the procedure. Touch time went by quick and she did
well. We were going to have kangaroo
time but Dr. G called up and asked for her eyes to be dilated. He
came up to start the procedure and the nurse informed him we were not going to
watch. Dr. G suggested that we do watch
because when she gets bigger and we bring her to his office she will be sitting
on our laps so we should get used to it now.
At first we thought he was joking, but he was not at all. We got seats and sat down; the entire
procedure took less than 30 seconds. But
it was horrible… He used this claw like thing to open her eye while the nurse
held her hands and feet so she wouldn’t move.
He then used a Q-tip to look behind her eye. This is not an exam I would like to watch
again; not at all. Olivia did better
with the exam than we did. Of course she
squirmed around because the nurse held her hands and legs but as soon as the
exam was over she was fine. So the
results of the exam were that her eyes were basically the same. With that being said, he will check again next
week and we will go from there. I’m glad
they did not get worse. We went to work
after and came back to visit for the night touch time. Livvy seemed tired, the exam took a lot from
her. When we weighed her, she gained
another ounce! She is now up to 2.9 lbs.
Daddy also got to do kangaroo time with her and she did much better this
time around. She laid on daddy for an
hour and a half; which made him very happy.
